Recreation on a budget

 Sunrise Parks and Recreation

I am just dragging my feet on this lovely Thursday evening. It seems as if everyday I post a blog later than the previous day. This has a lot to do with the fantastic weather we are having, as well as the many Spring activities that I like to include myself and my family in. I think I have made it very clear that I am frugal and always looking for a good deal. Today was spent enjoying one of my good deal finds - a Parks and Recreation swim class.

Given that Sacramento is so spread out, and we have many little communities in the region, we have a need for a variety of affordable recreational activities in each area of town. I think Sacramento and surrounding areas (including the city of Citrus Heights) have done a great job of meeting this need. I am always pleased when I receive my Parks and Recreation catalogs, and often surprised by the diversity of the classes offered, and of course the prices impress me as well.

If you have not done so lately, I suggest a review of the programs offered at your local Parks and Rec center. A glimpse at neighboring centers might be worth you while, too, as I often find that each center has it’s own unique courses and sports activities.

Financial assistance is available at some Parks and Recreation centers, and if I am not mistaken, there is also transportation via Paratransit. At Rusch Park, which is part of Sunrise Parks and Recreation, there is even a free health center.
