A couple of ideas for the weekend…
I know I have said it over and over- but it’s worth being mentioned yet again- this weather has been great lately! Get out doors and enjoy yourself before we reach scorching temperatures that make so many of us retreat to the comfort of our air conditioned homes. There are some great events taking place this weekend that are just too good to miss. Pack a cooler and enjoy:
Although it’s not in Sacramento, the Dixon May Fair is only a hop, skip, and a jump away. The fair actually began yesterday, and lasts through Sunday, May 11th. There are some well known musicians playing this weekend, including country artist Jo Dee Messina (one of my personal favorites). Sunday brings a demolition derby, which is always a blast! Check out the Dixon May Fair homepage for pricing info: http://www.dixonmayfair.com/
The East Sacramento Garden Tour takes place this Saturday and Sunday. This is a fundraiser event, and tickets are available on-line, as well as at locations all over Sacramento. The tour is self-guided, and maps are provided. I personally think this is the type of event that is enjoyable with or without friends and family. It’s the perfect opportunity to take an MP3 player and a bottle of water and just fly solo. More information about the East Sacramento Garden Tour can be found here: http://www.davidlubingardentour.com/index.htm

This Saturday at the Orangevale Community Center there will be an opportunity to view the sun through a solar telescope! The Astronomy and Science Festival takes place on Saturday, from noon-6pm. The location is 6826 Hazel Avenue, in Orangevale.
These are just a few of the events taking place this weekend. I truly hope you make it out to one, or all of these. Take a camera and travel safe!
