The Air We Breathe

Generally I only blog about positive news and exciting local events. But every now and then I feel the need to take my soap box out, dust it off, and make a public service announcement. Today is one of those every now and thens.
When the weather heats up, and school is out, I often find my self chaperoning my child to kids events or supervising his swim time. We usually get bored in the afternoon, and spend a lot of time outdoors, even in the heat. As I was looking at the sky earlier today I realized that it is a bit hazy, and thought I better check the local Spare-the-Air website. Sure enough today’s air has been deemed unhealthy for sensitive groups, which includes children under 14.
So the point of this is, make it a point to check on a frequent, if not daily basis. Know and understand the health effects that air pollution has on people, and the warning signs of those effects. And if possible, download and print air pollution reduction tips here: . I am in the middle of printing these tips, and plan to post them as a friendly reminder on the family bulletin board.
Enjoy the warm weather, and have a fabulous Father’s Day weekend!
