A farewell to a lovely city…
I am now in my final days as a Sacramento resident. As the count down reaches the three day mark, I can’t help but feel a bit sad about the fact that I will no longer live in such a lovely city.
Sacramento is truly a lovely city- with many trees and parks, and a lot of green. It’s true some areas are a lot more green than others, but for the most part this is a nice city that has so much to offer residents.
I hope that new Sacramento residents will attend the many different festivals and events that take place throughout the year in this valley metropolis.
If you have not yet attended a Sacramento River Cats game this summer, time is running out. Weekend games are great, and are generally followed by a fireworks display. There is nothing like a warm summer evening at Raley Field.
Also, it is time to make plans for the Perseid Meteor Shower. This year’s viewing should be great, especially compared to last year when the gigantic and ultra bright moon caused the sky to be too light for good viewing. I always make my plans early- and know that they will likely change. But that is what is so fun about viewing a meteor shower- the spontaneity and the unpredicability. One year, when searching for a great viewing area we actually ended up stuck in the dirt on the edge of a drop off somewhere in the Colfax area. To be honest, you really don’t have to go too far from the Sacto area to get a good viewing spot. I will give you a hint- head West, and head for the darkest field you can find. Just stay off of private property.
Enjoy what remains of July.
