The 2008-2009 season has begun at the Chautauqua Playhouse, with the adult comedy Noises Off. Performances are on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with ticket prices at $17. Prices are lower, around $7 for the children’s theatre performances, which will begin in October.

Chautauqua Playhouse is one of my favorite places to visit in the Sacramento area, although I only do so about once a year. If you have not had an opportunity to attend a theatre performance you should give it a go- the price is great and the venue is comfortable. There are affordable snacks available during intermission, or you can bring your own though they will have to be left in your vehicle.

You will find the playhouse on the grounds of the La Sierra Commnunity Center, and there is plenty of parking available along the side of the playhouse. La Sierra is it’s own seperate facility, so should you want more information, do visit the Chautauqua website for performance times and tickets. One other great feature of the website is that you can order tickets online and reserve your seat. The theatre does fill up fast, especially around the holiday season, so I recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time, as I have seen people turned away at the door.
