Art in Carmichael

Published by hawkinsm at 10:15 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Carmichael has a lot to offer residents and visitors. The many parks, trails, and family activities make this a great place to live. Among the many family activities that are within the Carmichael boundaries, the Fine Arts Center is one of my favorite.

This center offers no charge art gallery browsing, and even some art supplies for a very very low price. The Art Center has many patrons who donate used canvases, frames, and other supplies, and visitors can pick these up and re-use them for as little as 25 cents for a frame or large used canvas. I have noticed that on occasion some of these used canvases have decent art work on them, and I have picked these up for a whole quarter each, and a few now hang on my wall. This is a great way to get children interested in art as well, and buying cheap canvases or a youngster to decorate can be very encouraging for the aspiring artist.

The Sacramento Fine Arts Center also has a boutique with some gorgeous hand crafted items for sale, and best of all they offer art classes for people of all ages and abilities. I have yet to sign up for an art class, but I do believe that the prices are reasonable, and the experience would likely be fabulous. What better way to get away from it all and learn how to express yourself through art.

Check out the website for more details, and if you do pay a visit, it is not required but appreciated that donations are made. Of the many causes and places to support, this is one that really deserves the money. Let’s keep art alive and thriving!
