Child safety seats- a resource for Sacramento parents
Last week a five year old boy died in a car crash that could have been prevented. Given that Sacramento is a relatively small town, it is not too surprising that someone I know, happens to know someone who knows the family of the young boy who died, and for some reason this tragedy has been bothering me more than bad news usually does. Maybe it’s because I have a son who is about the same age- maybe it’s just the tragedy itself.
So I just wanted to use this opportunity to send my condolences to the family of this young man, and of the grandmother who was driving as well. I do not know what her condition is, but I have heard that it’s not good. Regardless of what she did, I still wish her good health, and I am keeping the young boy’s family in my thoughts.
If we were to learn anything form this tragedy, it is to pay attention to knowledge we already possess- children belong in the backseat of vehicles at all times! And furthermore they belong in car seats or booster seats. Though this is a bit off the topic, it is also a good reminder and resource if you need a car seat, or you happen to know someone who should be using one in their vehicle.
Check out these resources for free or low cost car seats and booster seats. And remember, it is best not to use a used car seat because you won’t know if it may have sustained damage in a previous accident.

Although our children are our future, we are their only hope for that future. Let’s keep them as safe as humanly possible.
