Yard Sale or Mini Wal-Mart?

Published by hawkinsm at 10:12 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

So today I’m going political. Recently The Sacramento Bee featured an article about homeowners who hold yard sales on a regular basis, and how the city of West Sacramento (remember they incorporated a while back) wants to limit these sales. I want to applaud the city for stepping up and deciding to do something about the ongoing problem of ’serial’ yard salers, or those who constantly hold sales in their neighborhood, and who avoid paying taxes. Yard sales of this sort often draw crowds that slow down traffic and leave messes behind, and honestly serial yard sales are not very neighborly, but are downright rude.

I realize that some people are just trying to make extra money, or any money for that matter. Times are tough for most everyone and I can’t blame folks for trying to make an honest dollar. However, we have to remember that our front yards are not businesses, but actually part of a neighborhood, which have some times unwritten rules, at least that is the case for West Sacramento until I am sure the ordinance will pass and regulations will be put in place.

For those people who truly depend on yard sales, Denio’s Market and Auction rents yard sale spots for a very low price. Check out seller’s information here: http://www.denios.org/selling/selling.htm. You might just turn that yard sale into a very profitable business, and Denio’s is a great place to start.
